Short Introduction

The Library holds one of the most extensive collections of books, magazines, art and film in the country, with over 6 million items.

With regards to Muybridge items, in addition to 1,418 Collotype prints, there is a photograph album titled “The Attitudes of Animals in Motion: by Muybridge”, 1881, that was presented by Muybridge to Dr. William Pepper, Provost of the University of Pennsylvania. This item was given to the Library by Dr. Pepper in 1897.

The library also holds a number of books on and by Muybridge.
