Short Introduction
The National Gallery of Art houses a collection of paintings, sculpture, photographs, drawings and prints focusing upon Western Art and its development.
Muybridge highlights include a number of Animal Locomotion prints and several Central America photographs. Edgington, 1878, is an unusual glass collodion negative.

Open Monday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Gallery is closed on December 25 and January 1.
Accessibility of Muybridge Collections to Public:
Researchers may call or email the Department of Photographs for appointments to look at the Muybridge collection. Call 202-842-6144 or e-mail photographs@nga.gov. The department requests two weeks advance notice to schedule an appointment. Hours of access are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Scholars and researchers may use the National Gallery’s library upon request. Hours are: Monday, noon to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
