Short Introduction

The Smithsonian American Art Museum is one of the largest museums dedicated to American Art and Visual Culture in the world.

Muybridge highlights from the collection include 82 numbered plates from the album “The Pacific Coast of Central America and Mexico; the Isthmus of Panama; Guatemala; and the Cultivation and Shipment of Coffee” (including title page and leather book cover).

Also included in the collection are 17 collotypes and 3 photogravures by Muybridge.
