Short Introduction

The American Museum of Natural History, founded in 1869, houses a wealth of scientific and cultural collections, providing fertile ground for a range exhibitions, education and research programmes.

The Research Library holds a Muybridge Collection which includes correspondence between Muybridge and Albert S Bickmore, founder of AMNH, as well as 4 books published by Muybridge in his lifetime. These are:
'Animals in Motion' (1899), 'Animal Locomotion' (1887), 'Descriptive Zoopraxography' (1893) and 'Attitudes of Animals in Motion' (1882).

Dr. J.D.B. Stillman's book, 'The Horse in Motion' is also available here.
