Short Introduction

George Eastman House is an International Museum of Photography and Film.

'The photography collection includes more than 400,000 photographs and negatives dating from the invention of photography to the present day'. (http://www.eastmanhouse.org/inc/collections/photography.php)

The museum houses an extensive collection of Western expeditionary and landscape photographs by Muybridge, which are represented in the 'American 19th-century holdings' collection.

Researchers can search items digitized on the online collection by following the link provided. This yields 24 results which span both early and later Muybridge works:

10 transparencies and 6 collotype prints depicting both human and animal studies; 5 albumen prints depicting California landscape and portrait studies; 1 gelatin silver print depicting two nudes; 1 piece of technical equipment and 1 rare Zoopraxography disk from 1893.

We understand that the Muybridge collection at George Eastman House extends far beyond these 24 items. Please contact the archivist for more information.
